4Active learning in the classroom:  "The Great Question Press"
"Try the Question Press on standard content and watch your students squeeze meaning out of inert matter.  Give them a lift. Engage them in making up their own minds. Equip them to manage the tough questions of life." That's what this article on the "FNO (From Now On) Educational Technology Journal website promises, listing a range of question "functions," listed below, from which instructors can fashion demanding questions based on their own course content on which to create assignments and classroom activities. The article offers example questions for each of these functions:

    • Build or invent

    • Persuade or convince

    • Challenge or destroy

    • Wonder

    • Understand

    • Acquaint
    • Decide
    • Dismiss
    • Figure out
    • Predict
