4Instructional
design models: The mother of
all linked lists
"Models, like
myths and metaphors, help us to make sense of our world. Whether derived from
whim or from serious research, a model offers its user a means of comprehending
an otherwise incomprehensible problem. An instructional design model gives
structure and meaning to an I.D. problem, enabling the would-be designer to
negotiate her design task with a semblance of conscious understanding. Models
help us to visualize the problem, to break it down into discrete, manageable
units." So says
Martin Ryder
of the University of Colorado at Denver School of Education, who has compiled
this huge list of links to many different instructional design models, created a
vast web of resources.

4Productivity
Primer: How to organize your desk and keep it organized
"Reorganizing your desk will take
time and effort, so it had better be well worth it, right? Well, here are the
benefits:
You will be able to find
specific items quickly (e.g., you won't have to waste time digging through
piles of paperwork to find the one document you need at the moment). You
will be more productive. You will make a good impression on the people who
see your work area, such as customers and employees. You will benefit
psychologically by facing a neat and attractive workspace at the beginning
of each workday, and by being better able to focus on your work because
there aren't as many visual distractions.

Clutter Coach, is located on the Bremer Communication "Image and Communication
Skills for Business" website:

4Joke
of the week
A man returns home after
traveling to exotic places and is feeling very ill. He goes to see his doctor,
and is immediately rushed to the hospital for a barrage of tests. The man wakes
up after the tests in a private room at the hospital, and the phone at his
bedside rings.
"This is your doctor. We've had the results back
from your tests and we've found you have an extremely deadly virus, which is
very contagious."
"Oh my gosh," cries the man. "What are you going to do, doctor?"
"Well, we're going to put you on a diet of pizzas, pancakes, and pita bread."
"Will that cure me?" asked the patient.
The doctor replies, "Well no, but...it's the only food we can get under the
door."
