7-Second Survey
June 4, 2007
If you could have anyone who is alive
today come to your classroom to speak to the students, who would you invite?
And why?
Seven instructors completed the survey. Here are their responses:
| Oprah
Winfrey |
I would
invite Oprah because she is both a cultural icon and a beacon for
education and bettering yourself |
| Michael
Tilson Thomas |
He is a
personal hero and has a unique and insightful perspective on the musical
culture of both past and present. |
| Bill Clinton |
To talk
about the price of mistakes and how to overcome them. |
| Ben S.
Bernanke |
Chairman of
the Federal Reserve Bank. |
| Vicente Fox |
If I were to
teach a class, it would probably be Eng 98 or 99 or Rdg 99, and there
would be lots of Hispanic students. So I think they would be excited to
see and talk with Fox in both languages, and he would surely encourage
them to further their education. If he couldn't come, I'd invite Bill
Richardson. |
| Steve Jobs |
He is
wonderfully creative and, at the same time, very effective at
implementing his ideas. Arguably the best business person in U.S. today. |
| Stephen
Hawking |
I would like
to ask him how he thinks and what role perseverance plays in thought
experiments. Also, does he think in mathematical theories, words,
symbols or images. |
