Make the Move to Hybrid Courses
Course description:

“I learned just as much in the online* discussion board as I did in the classroom.”  

The course will aid instructors in developing new teaching skills that help facilitate student learning and improve student success at CNM.

You will learn to develop challenging and engaging online learning activities that complement your face-to-face classroom activities.

You will have an opportunity to engage in discussions with other educators (both in class and online*) about hybrid course development.

You will also discover a wealth of resources online and on campus to assist you in creating a hybrid learning environment that will enhance student learning and improve student retention at CNM.

Course Benefits:

  • Part-time instructors get PAID for the five (5) classroom sessions.

  • Experience “hybrid” learning and explore new opportunities in both blended and distance education.

What you will take away from this course:
 Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
  • Understand and apply principles of hybrid learning design to an existing course.

  • Identify parts of a class that can be accomplished online

  • Design online activities that accomplish course objectives

  • Use online forums as a means to promote student learning

  • Transition to more student-centered active learning

Schedule: The course includes five classroom and four online* sessions.  The first session is in a classroom/computer lab environment and provides a BRIEF Blackboard orientation prior to the first online session.

Session 3, June  1–  Classroom Session 4  – ONLINE *
Session 5, June 15– Classroom Session 6  – ONLINE*
Session 7, June 29–  Classroom Session 8 – ONLINE*

Prerequisites:    
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE of WebCT is desirable  because the first classroom session will include only a BRIEF orientation and practice on Blackboard (formerly WebCT).
