The Physical Plant Department has implemented a program to better serve the CNM community. Building Administrators have been appointed by the Physical Plant Department upon recommendation by the Space Allocation Committee. These Administrators have no term of appointment and it is hoped that they will have long tenures.

The Building Administrators will:

  • Establish the opening and closing hours in conjunction with Security. Security will ensure that exterior doors are unlocked and locked in accordance with those operating hours. Open hours for other parts of the building can also be established.
  • Oversee safety procedures for the building. The Administrator will help to direct individuals to the proper contacts for safety information and training.
  • Enforce rules such as no smoking, no food or beverages in classrooms, no pets and no bicycles, skates or skateboards in the building.
  • Serve as the contact person for all renovation, remodels, major maintenance, and special cleaning projects scheduled in the building. Physical Plant will review all such work with the building administrator prior to initiating work.
  • Inform building occupants of the proper procedure for requesting estimates or work from the Physical Plant.
  • Review, prioritize, and submit work orders to the PPD. They can file work orders electronically. Non-emergency work orders from other building users should be initialed by the Building Administrator. Inform users of PPD services.
  • Maintain the building use schedule and work with the Public Information Office to maintain the directory.
  • Work with building occupants on needed or requested lock changes and approves key requests for interior rooms. Only Security has keys to the exterior doors.
  • Maintain an awareness of facility problems and communicate with the appropriate campus agency for correction of those problems.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for all routine work orders for the building.
  • Work with CIT in regard to telecommunication issues.
  • Meet with PPD staff each term.
