Procedure

1. Reporting Life Threatening Emergencies

1.1 Call the City Rescue Squad on an outside line at 911. State the nature of the problem, the exact location, and the type of emergency aid that has been provided.

1.2 Assist with the first aid, CPR, or other needed assistance.

1.3 Call the CNM operator at 224-3001 (extension 3001) for Main, Montoya and all off-campus sites. For the Rio Rancho campus call Intel Security at 893-1111, then notify the Rio Rancho Department of Public Safety at 911.

2. Reporting Non-Life Threatening Emergencies

2.1 Call the operator at "O" at the Main, Montoya and South Valley Campuses. At the Rio Rancho Campus call Intel Security at 893-7201.

2.2 Report the injury to the appropriate contact the person listed below:

2.3 Refer injured or sick employees to one of the following health care sites, if the person is not in a life threatening or dangerous condition.  The injured employee may seek emergency medical assistance through his or her own medical physician for the initial visit.  In cases of an injury involves a life threatening or dangerous condition, the employee should dial 911 from a CNM phone or a code blue parking lot phone immediately.  If using a cell phone, call Security at 224-3001. 

      For all campuses, any medical emergency after 5 p.m. and before 8 a.m. not involving life threatening or a dangerous condition, go to the nearest medical facility that is open for assistance.  The Concentra facilities listed are only open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

2.4 Report all injuries to the Safety Office even if there is no medical treatment. The treating facility administers the necessary care and informs CNM via the Occupational Health Network (OHN) about the status of the employee. On-going communication between OHN and CNM takes place through Human Resources.

3. Medical Emergency Reports

3.1 Complete an Employers' First Report of Accident and Medical Authorization with assistance of the Safety Office.

3.2 Complete a medical emergency report.
